Sketches for Caroline’s tattoo. She gave me a few reference images, some fancy, some simple, some steampunk, and I took off from there. She’s going to go with the rounded key.
Two images I’ve been working on lately:
1) Igor Hates Air Conditioning, and
2) Effie Trinket
A drawn-out poolside feminist conversation about Disney princesses resulted in a focus on Ariel’s particular failings.
“If I were Ariel,” I wound up saying, “and I could trade in my voice for anything, I wouldn’t want legs to impress a guy. I’d want unlimited amounts of cake.”
I took a photo with Instagram of a carousel giraffe photobombing a set of portraits. Then I went all circus on top of it in ArtRage.
I took an Instagram photo of a chalk drawing on the wall of a brownstone in Brooklyn. Then I drew on it on my computer because I am a very, very fancy person.

Fast-metabolism aliens, career-thwarted middle-aged mutant ninja turtles, and the first (unsuccessful) crucifixion in the bible.
You know, the usual.
People with exquisite heads: a pompadour man and a Mickey Mouse ear girl, reading Hamlet.
Otherworldly creatures: grumpy grandpa dragon wants you to get your act together so you don’t go to Hell like Cindy.
Oooh, a frisky garter page.
Soothing, aimless doodles in my sketchbook. One of my favorite ways to kill time.
Observing people is my favorite way to kill time on the subway in New York City. You may notice my preference for blatant hipsterism.

My sketchbook pages from my visit to the New York Frick Collection, an art museum housed in an architecturally beautiful mansion. These are all pen in Moleskine.
